Blackberry and Blueberry Picking

Opening day for the 2026 pick-your-own season is Saturday, May 16 (8 am – 10 am)

We’ll open the orchard for pick-your-own blackberry and blueberry picking on Saturday, May 16 from 8 am to 10 am. Field closes at 10:30 am.

At this point in the season, we have more blueberries ripening than we do blackberries. There will be some blackberries available, but we’ll likely run out quickly. So if you’re primarily interested in blackberries, wait until Memorial Day weekend to visit. If you’re primarily interested in blueberries, come on down!

Available for picking:

blackberries: thornless varieties including Arapaho, Osage and Caddo. Kiowa is thorny, but has excellent fruit. Other varieties are starting to ripen.

blueberries: Southern highbush blueberries have been making for a few weeks and are very ripe. Early-season rabbiteye varieties are available including Climax, Premier, Austin, Brightwell. Pink Lemonade is another early ripening blueberry that turns bright pink when it’s ripe. It’s very popular!

New for 2026 season: we will start selling picked fruit by weight: $8 a pound.

Blueberries and blackberries are $8 a pound. You only pay for what you pick (no entry fee). We accept cash (preferred), Venmo, and credit cards.

New for 2026 season: we will start providing bags to put in the buckets. Then we will have an easy way to weigh the produce. You can take the bags home or transfer the picked berries to take-home containers. Frequent visitors may be interested in our Waughsome Farm “Golden Bucket”.

We are a no-smoking farm. We cannot allow pets into the orchard or parking area.

Our bathrooms were not delivered in time for opening day, but we’ll have them for the rest of the season. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Season Opening Day 2026

Opening day in 2026 is expected to be in mid-May (give or take a week or two).

We appear to be on track for opening in mid-May for pick-your-own blackberries and blueberries.
In 2025, opening day was May 17, and all signs point to being able to open at the same time this year. However, don’t be surprised if we’re able to open a week or two earlier.

We won’t be able to announce our actual first open day until a week beforehand, so check our website or our Facebook page for the latest announcements.

Closed for Spring 2025

June 20, 2025
We sorry to announce that we are closed for the spring 2025 blackberry and blueberry picking season.
Thanks to everyone who came out to visit. It’s been our biggest and most successful season for us so far, and we hope to have many more to come.

CANCELLED: We are closed for the 2025 spring season

Unfortunately, when we went through the orchard this Friday evening,  there were not enough berries for us to open for picking on Saturday. Birds are likely eating the berries faster than they can ripen, and once that happens there’s no recovering for the season. Thanks for coming out to pick this season, and we’ll see y’all next year (unless we are able to open for fig picking in late August).

blueberries: late season rabbiteye varieties such as Tifblue and Powderblue.

We provide picking buckets and transfer the picked berries to take-home containers.

We are a no-smoking farm. We cannot allow pets into the orchard.

Blackberry and Blueberry Picking

Update: It looks like we’ll have a break in the weather so we’ll set up to open at 6 pm. The fruit is ready so we’re going to roll the dice. If you’re coming from a distance, be advised that we may need to close or not open at all if the rain or lightning starts up again.

Bring your muck boots/old sneakers.

We will have reduced parking so we may run out of parking space. You may need to leave and try coming back in 30 minutes or try some other day.

We’ll open for pick-your-own blackberry and blueberry picking on Thursday, June 12 at 6 pm to 7:30 pm. No reservations required.
