Blackberry and Blueberry Picking
Saturday morning weather update: It looks like rain and possibly thunderstorms are moving toward the farm this Saturday morning. We intend to open and let people pick as the weather allows. We’ll close the field if the rain is heavy or there is lightning, but then may open again if it clears out. Bring your mud boots and rain jackets! Check back with this page or our Facebook page for announcements before you start heading over.
The good news is that there is a lot of fruit in the field with ripe blueberries and blackberries.
We’ll open the orchard for pick-your-own blackberry and blueberry picking on Saturday, May 23 from 8 am to 11 am.
At this point in the season, we believe blackberries and blueberries will be available in equal amounts. Blackberries will start hitting their stride, in terms of pace of ripening.
Available for picking:
blackberries: thornless varieties including Arapaho, Osage, Ponca and Caddo. Kiowa is thorny, but has excellent fruit.
blueberries: Early-season rabbiteye varieties are available including Climax, Premier, Austin, Brightwell.
New for 2026 season: we will start selling picked fruit by weight: $8 a pound.
Blueberries and blackberries are $8 a pound. You only pay for what you pick (no entry fee). We accept cash (preferred), Venmo, and credit cards. When paying by cash, we round down to the nearest dollar.
New for 2026 season: we will start providing bags to put in the buckets. Then we will have an easy way to weigh the produce. You can take the bags home or transfer the picked berries to take-home containers. Frequent visitors may be interested in our Waughsome Farm “Golden Bucket”.
We are a no-smoking farm. We cannot allow pets into the orchard or parking area.
